Your Tampa Bay Photographer specializing in Weddings, Elopements, and Storyteller sessions for the fun-loving, wild, and down to earth. I fully believe your story deserves to be told and we should have fun capturing it!
When you think of wedding photos, your mind probably goes straight to the big moments, like your first look, walking down the aisle, and that just-married smooch. But there’s more to your wedding day than those moments.
Wedding detail photos aren’t just pretty flat lays! They are the tiny tokens and intentional touches you poured your heart into that make your day really unique. It’s your handwritten vows, grandma’s earrings, florals, perfume and other important little bits.
And when photographed well, they help tell the full story of your day. So let’s talk about how to make the most out of your wedding detail photos.

Wedding details are the tiny (and big) beautiful pieces that come together to tell your story, like the invitations, shoes, rings, florals, jewelry, vow books, your something borrowed, your something blue. But they’re not limited to that!
They can also include:
Big or small, classic or quirky—your details are part of your love story. These photos might not include faces, but they are emotional.
You wedding detail photos give context to the rest of the day and honor the things you chose with great care, like your colors, textures, style… The things that made you feel like you on this once-in-a-lifetime day.
It’s all part of the experience, and it deserves to be remembered!

Here’s everything I recommend for a smooth, stress-free, and meaningful detail photo experience!
The morning of your wedding can fly by. Set aside all the meaningful pieces in a box or bag the night before: invitation suite, rings, shoes, jewelry, perfume, vow books, heirlooms, etc. That way, your photographer (hi!) can dive right in while you ease into the day.
Pro tip: Keep all paper goods unbent and have a few extra copies for layering. A small tray, ribbon, or fabric swatch can also help elevate the flat lay without over styling it.
Sure, your rings and invites are beautiful, but what about the little things that are uniquely you? Maybe it’s a handwritten note, your late grandmother’s brooch, the dried flowers from your engagement, or photos of your pup.
This is the moment to include those things. Even a small addition can make the detail photos deeply personal.

Your day is about both of you. So it would be great to capture it that way! From ties, watches, cufflinks, and socks to handwritten vows or pre-wedding gifts, set those aside too.

Things like:
I’ll bring a styling kit, but anything that ties into your aesthetic or story adds a layer of magic.
You don’t need to style your details yourself, you just need to gather them! I’ll take care of the rest!
If wedding detail photos are important to you, make sure you allocate enough time for them (about 30 minutes or so). These typically happen at the beginning of the day while you’re getting ready. Having this carved out ensures your photographer isn’t rushed and can give your details the love they deserve.

Okay, here’s the final list for ideas of what to include in your wedding detail photos. You don’t need everything here, but this is a good start!

You don’t need to gather these around, but these are the types of things your photographer is likely to capture from the other parts of your day!
